Women Are Color

Has anyone else seen the fabulous new Lise Watier commercial? I unfortunately can't find it on youtube, but they play it often on Fashion TV!

It starts in black and white, showing three or four different girls doing mundane things; walking down the street, sitting at a desk job, walking a dog. There are words appearing at the bottom of the screen with these shots saying things like, 'color is an espresso in an every day world', 'color is not ordinary', 'color seduces', and such. It then fades into color shots of these same women but suddenly everything is bright and their makeup is impeccable. These are women of power and are strutting down the street instead of just walking. The commercial ends with a lipstick changing shades, with the words Lise Watier Is Color.

I don't know about you, but that is just the most genius makeup commercial I've ever seen.

I feel like it's saying, yes color takes time to appreciate and work to pull off but in the end it gets you the personality and power you need to be a powerful female. You can wear dainty, girly makeup and still be top dog.

What are your thoughts? Have you seen any amazing makeup or fashion commercials that have got you thinking?

Ode to Kat Von D

My biggest beauty inspiration has been Kat Von D, professional tattoo artist. From her trademark tattoos to winged eyeliner, I've looked up to her for a long time. I remember watching Miami Ink and immediately fell in love with her attitude. She was just as tough as any of the other guys, easily producing just as great art work as any of them. Her style was so cool, like a biker chick, yet her makeup was still girly and glittery. It was an awakening to realize I could still be hardcore and tough but love makeup and be a girl. I have followed her throughout her different shows, watching her career always. She evolutionized how I did my makeup and how I looked at the world. She helped me become a powerful female.
